Christians Joining The Masonic Lodge? By: I. D. Byars

Man was created a responsible human being, responsible for his salvation and responsible in remaining in a saved condition as long as he lives. Peter makes it very plain that God ". . . hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness . . . (II Peter 1:3)," and that "salvation is found in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven given unto man by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12)." Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, "and no man can come to God except through Him (John 14:6)." Obedience to God's Word puts one IN Christ (Galatians 3:27). The Lord adds him to His church (Acts 2:47), where ALL the saved are, therefore, being in a saved condition, what other institution is needed? The Masonic Lodge was unknown many hundred years this side of the New Testament writers, therefore they could not write about anything that was not revealed to them. IF there had been a Masonic Lodge during the days of the apostles they would have written against any Christian being a member of it. Judge imagine a Christian calling a human being "Worshipful Master." The Bible teaches that a Christian has but ONE master, and that is Jesus the Christ (Matthew 23:10). Masons have many "gods," but they cannot accept Christ, nor can they pray in His Name. Christians are taught by God's Word to "do all things in the name [by the authority] of Christ (Colossians 3:17)," but Christ has not given authority for ANYONE to be a member of the Masonic Lodge, or any other religious denomination. The use of the BIble or any other "sacred book" in Masonic Lodges are simply symbolic, because the Bible to Masons of the Islamic persuasion is but one book among several to "symbolize" the will of their god. How can a Christian, who believes that the Bible only is in fact the revealed Word of God, subscribe to such a sinful life as the Masonic Lodge? As a Mason advances to higher degrees in the Lodge, he must take oaths that include things that are in conflict with the Word of God - he must take part in "ceremonies," which are very "superstitious." Our Lord and His apostles taught against "swearing," and "the doctrines of men" that make void the Word (Matthew 5:34, Matthew 15:6-9, James 5:12). The Lodges teach that "a good Mason" is heaven bound - whether he is a member of the Lord's church or not, or even if he does or does not believe the teachings of Christ. The Bible teaches that only through Christ can salvation be obtained (Acts 4:12). "Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. (Ephesians 3:21)." Christians are not to be "entangled in the affairs of this life (II Timothy 2:4)." God gave us "all things necessary" but He did not give us Masonry. Therefore, it is a sin for a CHristian to become "entangled" in the religion of the Masonic Lodge.
