Bible Will I Find: A Description Of Genuine Faith? By: Gary Colley

Every Bible student should know that saving faith comes in only one way, by hearing and accepting what the Bible says (Rom.10:17). How wonderful that we have in our midst the Word of God from Heaven to direct our every step from here to Heaven! (II Cor.5:7). Bible faith is easily identified, by following the teaching of the Scriptures: 1. It is an understanding faith, “…through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God” (Heb.11:3). 2. It is saving faith, “…for by grace ye are saved through faith..” (Eph.2:8). 3. It is a living faith, and a growing faith, “…because that your faith groweth exceedingly” (II Thess.1:3). 4. It is a working faith, because “…faith without works is dead” (Jas.2:20). 5. It is a justifying faith (it makes us righteous in the sight of God), because “…being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Rom.5:1). 6. It is a protecting faith, because with “the shield of faith…ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked” (Eph.6:16). 7. It is a stabilizing faith, “…for by faith ye stand” (II Cor.1:24). 8. It is a purifying faith, “…purifying their hearts by faith” (Acts 15:9). 9. It is a faith that obeys in order to be purified, “Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever” (I Pet.1:22-25). 10. It is an asking faith, receiving answers to its prayers, “…in faith, nothing wavering” (Jas.1:6). 11. It is a strong faith, recoiling “…not at the promise of God through unbelief; but…strong in faith, giving glory to God” (Rom.4:20). 12. In the finality of all things, the Christian’s faith is a triumphant faith, “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith” (I Jn.5:4). If you have not developed the proper faith in God, Christ, and the Word, begin to study your Bible today (II Tim.2:15). Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also…I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (Jn.14:1-6). We encourage all to hear the Word, believe it with all the heart, repent of all past sins, confess the name of Christ, be buried with the Lord in Baptism, arising to walk in newness of life (Rom.6:3-4).–Gary Colley
