Bible Will I Find: How To Win Others To Christ? By: Gary Colley

Knowing that the wise man said, “..he that winneth souls is wise” (Prov.11:30), every Christian makes it their aim to win others to Christ. With the peerless apostle Paul, faithful Christians today say, “..my hearts desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that all might be saved” (Rom.10:1-3). Though Paul wanted “Israel” his kinsmen in the flesh to be saved, he did not pray that they would be saved without obeying the Gospel, which he knew was impossible. Paul worked under the great commission of King Jesus who said, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned” (Mk.16:15-16). He taught that men had to be baptized into Christ in order to be saved (Rom.6:3-4; Gal.3:26-27). He knew that even though these Jews had a zeal for God, yet Paul says it was “not according to knowledge” and would not save them. Even though they were following a system of righteousness (their own), it was not the Lord’s system of righteousness revealed in the Gospel (Rom.1:16-17). It is possible for men today to be religious as these of whom Paul spoke, yet to be found in a lost condition (Matt.7:21). All Christians are to be seeking the lost even as was our Lord’s mission (Lk.19:10). “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (Jn.3:16). All who would be saved must believe with all of their hearts that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God (Jn.8:24). But the Bible teaches that belief alone is not sufficient for salvation (Jas.2:14,17,20,22,24,26). Jesus is not willing that any should perish, but commands that all should come to repentance (II Pet.3:9). But belief and repentance will not save one who refuses to confess his or her faith in Christ (Jn.12:42-43). Each one desiring salvation must make this good confession (Rom.10:9-10). Jesus also commands, that after one has been taught he or she must be baptized into the name of the sacred three (Matt.28:19-20). This is the manner in which men were won to Christ in the first century, and the manner with which men must be won to Christ today (Acts 2:38;18:8). Let every Christian live a righteous life, letting their light shine, that others may see their good works and glorify the Father in Heaven (Matt.5:16). Let every Christian support faithful Gospel teaching and preaching (I Tim.4:16; II Tim.2:2). Let every Christian “hold fast the profession of faith without wavering” and “consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together” (Heb.10:23-25). Honest seekers will be won!
